Come Paddling With Me

I brought you along for a morning kayak today – a goofy experiment that worked out rather well:

If the panda comment seemed random, here is the meme I was referring to:

Are you dying to know how on earth I managed to fit a phone in my mouth??! I have a case called “Loopy” with a rubber loop on the back that is meant for a finger but as it turns out works nicely for other purposes. (Sidebar – the case says LOOPY in big pink letters and my husband likes to tease me that makes it “personalized” perfectly for me.)

Let’s continue:

If you enjoyed joining me for my morning kayak, be sure to pop over to The Bubble Hour and listen to the short episode I recorded while paddling.

Enjoy the warm weather!

About UnPickled

I am learning to walk without the crutch of alcohol. As I begin I am 1 day sober. Gulp. I drank in private and hope to quit just as privately. The purpose of this blog is to help make me accountable - just by following you will give me enormous support and encouragement.

  1. Thank you for sharing your lake time and your thoughts with us! I have been reflecting on the importance of the subtle aspects of recovery, and your analagy seemed so perfect. There are days when it is easy to navigate, days when it’s tough, and days when we just have to stay off the water and make a different choice (like curling up in a cozy chair with a good book and a hot cup of tea:). It’s all part of tuning in to our deepest self to determine what’s needed in the moment. The best kind of self-care. The most authentic journey for recovery and for life. Thank you for being here.

  3. We are blessed to live in such beauty! That was really fun joining you on your paddle, what a unique and entertaining episode. I’m heading out to do some kayaking myself, I’ll be thinking about your insights on sobriety and calm waters and such as I paddle along.

I’m in California San Francisco Bay area and it is cloudy with a chance of rain. What a nice brain break LOL to see your video.

  5. I love that you took us along on your kayak ride – what a beautiful place to be! The analogy was spot on, thank you for sharing those thoughts. On another note, I can totally relate to the panda bear reference – me being ‘blessed’ with eyelashes that are practically clear, I would have kept my glasses on, too! Enjoy the rest of your time there. -Tracie
